The amendments also aim to strategically refocus what urban and regional planning considers to be important as well as provide a “more robust planning environment with a higher degree of professionalism and enforcement capability” The intention is to create a “more legible and understood system”.
The intention is to create an expedited approval process through the WAPC, streamline advertisement and assessment processes, the new process will include the ability to consider “non-planning” matters in the public interest and to provide a greater degree of certainty for building permits, liquor licences, noise permits and road access.
This new system will have a sunset period of 18 months.
There are other sweeping amendments that are proposed that will significantly change how amendments are made to Town Planning Schemes and the like.
This webinar will detail changes that are being made to the Planning and Development Act and is suitable for planners in the private sector and Local Governments.
JDAP’s will now become district DAP’s and a new panel called a “special matter DAP” will be introduced.
